Tranny Swap. Will it work?

Tranny Swap. Will it work?
Ok I have 1994 F150 4x4 with a 5.0 Automatic and a 1994 Bronco 4x4 with a 5.0 Automatic that I am parting out. I want to use the tranny out of the Bronco for the truck, should be no problem right...... well I got looking at the truck tranny and it has a 14 bolt tranny pan and the bronco has a 20 bolt tranny pan. Now why would that be and will it still work in the truck, and yes I know that the 20 bolt is a E4OD but what is in the truck.... thanks for your time and help.

From 'Articles/specs' at the top of the page:

14 bolts should be, in '94 the AODE or 4R70W. The AOD uses the same pan, but '93 is the last year.
I doubt the controller that loved the E4OD so much would cozy up to an AODE or 4R70W. I don't know where to send you for that info, but buying a controller is enough to choke a horse:
TCI Auto: Transmission Control Unit (TCU) For Electronic Automatic Transmissions
That outfit might know if the controllers are compatible, or perhaps someone else here, or you might have to bring ecu and trans over together.
Good luck.
First it was engines, now it's transmissions. Why FMC couldn't settle on one, I don't know.

Transfer cases will only mate to trannys that are set up for 4x4. A 4x2 tranny, as in a van, has to be taken apart and then set up for the input and mounting points for the transfer case. If you were using a divorce mount t-case then yes you could use a 2wd tranny without mods to it. Just alot of driveshaft work because you now have an extra drive shaft instead of the 2 (or 3) that the 4wd come with.

So if I am understanding this all I need to do is swap the tranny and the ECU from the Bronco to the truck and it will work. Please say yes (just kidding) I already have the motor and tranny ready to come out of the Bronco... Thanks again for all your help.
Know wonder I love the older FORD trucks...soooo much easier to swap stuff!!! But it was my dads truck and he loved it... soooo the quest continues.

It might work.
Both motors are either going to have to be speed density or mass air for this to work. If you try and swap computers and one is SD and the other mass air, it won't run at all. If you have a sensor in the air tube it's a mass air setup. Since both are '94 vehicles, one or both might be mass air. You have to check this.
The E4OD is quite a bit longer than the AODE. This presents two problems. One, your driveshafts will have to be lengthened/shortened to fit. Two, if the F-150 has a manual transfer case, you might need different linkage because the transfer case is now farther back. If it's electronic you might be OK.
Another issue might be the wiring harness. I'm not sure what the wiring harness looks like for the AOD, but I'm guessing it's different from an E4OD. You are probably going to have to transplant the wiring harness from the Bronco to the truck as well.
It's not as easy as it looks.
