My window switch on my drivers door is out, and I watched my mechanic take my door apart and everything, and I noticed that the speakers just plug right in to this simple little plastic thing with all the wires already there. My question is would aftermarket speakers plug in that quick and easy, just plug the little thing in and bam your good to go, or is it more complicated than that?
yes, it's simple, you just need a speaker wire harness adapter, on one end it has 2 spade connectors that connect to the aftermarket speaker terminals, and on the other end is a plug that plugs into the factory wire harness. I bought my speaker wire harness adapter at Best Buy.
Why did he take your whole door panel apart just to change the window switch? The plastic bezel around the window switches pops off very easily from the door panel. No need to take the entire door panel off.
What do you mean, a pair of speaker adapters is only like $6 to $10. You surely wouldn't want to mess with it if you had to run all new speaker wires through your door jamb. The harness adapter makes it so easy. You don't need any wire cutters or anything. Just plug it in.
here's what they look like:
Aftermarket stuff doesn't plug right into to factory stuff. It's like if you said I want an aftermarket radio, but oh, I don't want to mess with an adapter. Without the adapter, you would have to cut and splice like 20 wires or so from the factory radio harness.
If you look around, I've even seen them at some Wal-Mart stores, you can find exact replacement speakers from Pioneer. I did this a few years back with my 96 Ranger. Little better on the high frequency response but, other than that, not much change.
My 04 F-150 seems to have come with pretty good speakers that I'm satisfied with, so I'm not messing with them....
