Wow incredible ........I bet not long after January 20th they will be gone....

My brother in law purchased a 53 Merc Flathead from a Junk Yard in the Twin Falls area 2 years ago. Last summer when I drove down to pick it up he took me to the yard to see all the vintage stuff there. As we walked through the tree line we found ourselves standing in an empty field. Only car still there was a 64 Ford Galaxy. There was a few Mopars two of which were 66-67 Chargers, but that was about all that was left.

Trouble is that those cars may have had value at one time, but after decades of munching by the metal moths they are mostly piles of iron oxide not worth the effort to cut the underbrush to free them. Tis a shame...

It is a shame to see so many cool cars in that condition. Even if most of the bodies are rusted beyond salvation just think of the gold mine in trim, *****, grills, tailights, gauge clusters, etc.

Dang, there's stuff I need in there....lol

Normal people don't collect cars liek that... there is a field south of Yakima, Washington where the fella has gobs of old cars/trucks (Yakima is arid so the rust is happening VERY slowly) just sitting. They have been for years. He won't sell a single car. A buddy's father knows the guy and wanted one of his model A's and the fella would have nothing to do with it. It's just wrong

Sadly that happened here my way. This old farmer had a 700+ cars and trucks. He would not sell. His health failing his sons came in and had an auction. This all happened this last June when gas prices took a souring price hike. Their were abunch of collectors planning to buy cars for parts or as projects. The fuel costs kept them away.
Well I wish I went. cars were going for $50.00 to $200.
One of our FTE members went and got 2 nice trucks for under $200.00
Sadly most of these cars went to scrap dealers and they crushed them soon after the auction.
At that cheap price it would of paid for me to go. I was only an hour away.
A 1960 2dr Comet wagon sold for $70.00 The guy cleaned it up and got it running and then resold it for $3500. He did the same with a 61 Comet 4dr. Another guy got a nice rust free 66 Chev Impala wagon for $50 and sold it again for $3000.00.
But again lots of nice tin just went to the scrapyard in the sky.
Usually these auctions bring in good money, but the greedy gas OPEC ruined these cars resurections.

Depressing indeed. If I had the money, and bought all of what I could to save them from such an auction (and ultimately the scrapper)....I'd end up as "that guy" that refused to part with anything several years from now as they would all be lined up in a field, lol.

Not going and missing out on deals like these when you are only an hour away is nearly as sickening as seeing the cars rusting away..... Maybe next time you hear of something like this going on and you are able to give at least a weeks notice, let us know. I would have made arrangements to attend something like that. Even though I'm from Canada, high fuel prices, plane tickets and transporting costs, it sounds like it would have paid. W would have purchased a car hauler load and brought them all home at those prices.

There were guys from Red Deer and Calgary who planned on coming. But when the gas hit a $1.50 they decided the costs of hauling and buying became where it outweighed the value. They consider the restoration times.
Me at that timewas going through some financial difficulty and finally getting that out of my way for the new year.
Yes I feel sick I did not go, but I did not have a dime to my name at that time.
