8" Fabtech 250SD question

sorry ive been a chevy guy for a couple of years and so im only familiar with IFS lift kits.
and i heard SICDUTY had a good looking 8" fabtech lift, could he or someone else post pics of what it looks like, and the size of his tires

8" Fabtech 250SD question

I have the same lift and ended up running the 5" fabtech rear leafs and a 4"block to give the truck a level look. If you use the factory 3" block the rear is just noticeably lower than the front. With this setup I was able to fit 38x15.5x16.5 super swampers on 16.5x12 welds. I did have to trim the front bumper just a hair..

8" Fabtech 250SD question

pics in my gallery... they are old, but you'll get the picture.

as TDAMORE said... the 5" springs will give you a nose up look.... as i said in a previous post, i have the 4" blocks on order to level it out.

tdamore.... did you do the larger blocks after the fact? if so.... a couple of questions for you. if not i will figure as i go.

- did you need to add more carrier bearing shims?
- did you run into a shock problem with the extra two inches?
- ubolts.... are the ford replacements that go with the 4" block sufficent? or did you need longer ones due to the fabtech spring pack?
- taper on the blocks?
- i assume no need to lengthen rear shaft.

thanks!

8" Fabtech 250SD question

- did you need to add more carrier bearing shims?

I used the whole stack that came with the kit....In fact, I ended up going to pep boys and buying longer bolts just to make me feel better about not having 2 thread turns holding my carrier bearing on :-)

- did you run into a shock problem with the extra two inches?

No shock problems. I used the fabtech shocks that come with the kit.

- ubolts.... are the ford replacements that go with the 4" block sufficent?

I ended up using some procomp u-bolts that my friend had laying around. They did stretch after about 3 weeks and I had to re-tighten all of them. The factory bolts would have worked if I stuck with the fabtech spring pack and the factory 3 inch block.

- taper on the blocks?

Small amount of taper, just enough to get the driveline back in order. I definately need ladder bars though. Lots of axle wrap with this setup. I am going to order some fabritech Stage II this week I think.

- i assume no need to lengthen rear shaft.

No need to lengthen the rear, front was lengthened about 1.5 inches.

I need to get gears and a locker next :-) Also, I need to figure out how to correct my speedo/mileage etc.....

can you tell me how many are in your stack?

which way did the taper go... i assume shorter end forward?

did you run with the factory 2" blocks first then move to the 4" blocks? if so, did you notice the axel wrap with the 2" blocks?

i have no axel wrap currently with the 2" blocks and the fabtech 5" spring pack.

>inches.

yes... mine was 1.5 inches too.

>I need to get gears and a locker next :-) Also, I need to

gears... dude, a MUST have!!!! i would not have lifted if i couldn't have done the gears at the same time.... tryed that once a long time ago and i learned my lesson! the locker i have on myrear is nice! i just need to decide if i want to go ARB or LSD in front???

to correct speedo... you can get a superlift truspeed module or a custom programmed chip. i am not hearing the best about the chips on the gas engines tho.... performance seems to be minimal for the extra cost, plus you must run premium fuel with the chip.... all reports of the truspeed are positive!

i have not made a move yet on the truspeed.... i am holding out for a hypertech programmer (have also heard that superchip may have one in the works.... they just poped out one for the diesels). the programmers seem nice to me since when you take her into the dealership, you can detune so they have no idea. also, i am running a gps so i can see my correct speed all the time (this is nice since i am putting less miles on the truck's odo then she is actually traveling).
