Cam Selection???
I am looking for a cam that would give me a lot of lope and sound BA. I want your opinion too. i want to know if you think im crazy. do you think that i should go with a cam that has lope and not low end torque, even if it i use it as a weekend wheeler? you think that i will get stuck more if i do?
I just love the sound of cam lope!!!!!!!!! i mean, who doesn't
... I was looking at the comp cam 34-231-4 and 34-235-4. these are both pretty stock cams. 34-235-4 has some lope, without giving up low end torque. that is a pretty good comprimise....but i want LOPE lope. Do you know any cams that would do this for me? once again, let me know if im crazy for giving up a vital part of offroad rigs (torque) for how it sounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET ME KNOW!!! Thanks and sorry for the ongoing, rediculously long post!!!!

Typically, lopey cams and low-rpm performance (off-roading) are mutually exclusive. I don't do a lot of 4x4 stuff, so I couldn't give you a specific pick. Too bad Comp doesn't make the Thumper cams for the 460.
I'm running a custom ground cam by Harold Brookshire in my '69 Mach1 390 that has a pretty aggressive lope, but still does OK
around town. Harold invented the Voodoo line for Isky, designed most of the old standards for Comp, among others, but he's fixin' to retire, and is doing his own thing again, but probably not for long. He might be able to help you. brookshire@panola.com <brookshire@panola.com>Another is Mike Jones- very good people...HOME
The best thing to do is either fill out a cam recommendation form http://www.compcams.com/technical/ or call and talk to someone at Comp. They do custom grinds all the time. Got one in my '79F150.
