performance increase

i have a aut. f 150 4.9 i6 87 model.. it has been dogged by previous owners and i am trying to restore lost power any suggestions???

Really give your vac lines the once over. Espesically anything that is really close to heat! As cheap as they are, they might be worth just replacing them!

A compression check is in order as well (when you've got the plugs out for the tune up?). Could point to bad head gasket and/or rings early on in the process.
