Allright guys I have a ? for ya I thought I fixed the problem but guess not. My 01 powerstroke is acting up on me all of a sudden. Have never had a problem with it starting when it was cold till yesterday it would crank like crazy just not fire at all yet i would have white smoke slowly rolling out of my exhaust. It was about 0 degrees F out and did not have it plugged in cause my block heater was burnt up. I checked all my fuses, checked the GPR had power on both big studs when the key was on. Tach is moving when it cranks. Have oil in the HPOP resvoir. Still wouldnt start replaced my block heater plugged it in for a couple of hours and it fired up like it was 80 degrees out. So i thought that was the problem then this morning it was 30 outside it would not fire at all and it has always started fine when it was cold at that temp. This problem happend over night, could the GPR be bad yet still show power to both studs or can all the glow plugs just fail like that. Sorry for the long post thanks, Chase
If you've got power on the other big post on the GPR, then the GPR is working properly and sending voltage to the glow plugs.
Sounds like you've got several glow plugs that are no longer working properly. Remove the flat 9 pin connector on the inboard side of each head and use an ohm meter to check the front 2 and back 2 pins inside that connector. Good glow plugs should read between 0.6 - 2.0 ohms.
