I have a 2000 F150 with a 4.2l eng and a 5 sp manual tranny. It has 170k on it. I have narrowed my problem to the slave cylinder which is inside the tranny so since I am going in, I am replacing all parts.
I have done this on smaller cars but never on a truck. Are there any specialty tools I need? Does anyone have step by step instructions on the removal of the tranny? Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to get in there and find a suprise or even worse break something and further complicate my situation.
I replaced my clutch last year. I am a true shade tree mechanic. I assure you no special tools are required. I do recommend replacing the pilot bearing along with the rest of the clutch parts.
