Throttle surging during idle
I have an '03 excursion limited with the 6.0 diesel. In the past month after taking it on two long trips I noticed that while its ideling the throttle will surge. twice I was lucky enough to not be close to the car in front of me. I had my foot on the brake but it still jerked a little bit forward. I also noticed that it will sometimes happen while driving. My wife noticed it first, then I drove it and sure enough..its doing it at times. What could it be? fuel pump? fuel sensor? throttle connection? I also noticed the smell of diesel fuel entering the cabin on some days. Now I don't know if its just because we have nicer weather and I have the A/C shuut off and am drawing in outside air when sitting. Could it be that its the exhaust being blown maybe back under the car and with the fan on drawing outside air it pushes it into the cabin. (I think it smelled more like fuel and not exhaust) I'm wondering if there might not be a leak somewhere in the fuel line up under the hood. It only started to do this after using back in October a diesel additive for one of the trips. I used that Kleen something. Anybody have any experience with this situation? Thanks in advance for any info.
