Does anyone have a schematic, or know what lines need to be hooked up to keep ckeck engine light off? I removed the air pump, and canister. also a/c vents are stuck on defrost. 93 f150 5.0 aod 2wd. Thanks
Why did you remove the canister.. assuming you mean the vacuum canister on the passenger fender? If you removed the air pump you need to remove all the plumbing attached to it and plug the heads and exhaust. You can then remove the 2 vacuum lines between the diverter valves and the TAB and TAD solenoids over by the coil. Plug the outputs from these solenoids or remove the vacuum source lines as well, but in both cases make sure these parts are electrically connected. You can't leave any vacuum lines open or you will have problems.
The canister feeds the TAB, TAD and EGR solenoids providing a steady vacuum signal instead of one that wanders up and down with the engine. You can't eliminate the EGR system without throwing a code so you might as well keep the vacuum canister.
The Chilton Manual has everything you need in the diagram section. Well worth the $20. The Haynes is not as good. Usually the library has free copys to check out.
Also, the canister kind of helps on the EGR as that has a valve that operates by opening to vacuum or opening to atmosphere to set the EGR valve at a desired position. You do have to have the TAB, and TAD plugged into the wiring harness, this is the only feed back the computer has in telling if those are operational. You could get a CEL by unplugging them because the computer isnt able to operate them.
