need immediate help 2002 explorer xlt alternate tires??

Hello all!!
I need immediate help. I am currently online at Tire Rack and they have tires for my sisters truck which measure 235/75 r15 the stock size as you probably know is 235/70r16 is it possible to fit the r15s on the truck or is the 16" non negotiable:?

Welcome to FTE.

The 15 and 16 are the wheel rim diameters. These tires are NOT interchangable.

You MUST select 16s for those wheels. Not 16.5 either, 16, period.

Can't be "made to work".

IF YOU BUY a set of 15" wheels for an Explorer, they might work. For your year, not sure if 15 was a factory size. Brake and suspension clearance are questions when going down a size.

Your best bet is stick with the 16s.

I thought Tire Rack wouldn't let you even look at rims less than stock, as long as you entered the correct vehicle data first. As mentioned above, you'll have problems with brake clearance on 15" rims. You can go bigger, but not smaller.
