I have a 1989 F-150 with a 300 6 with 3.08's in the rear. I would like to put 31" tires on the truck but will i lose the pulling power up hills and take offs? The truck runs at 2000 RPM at 65 mph will this be afected?
if you go to any size larger tire your performance will go down no matter how little bigger the tires are. your truck can drive with those tires fine, i think that they are small enough that they wont make that much of a difference.
What size have you got on there now? I assume they are 235/75/15s, if so, you'd probably drop about 150-200 rpms on the highway as an example. So everything is 150-200 rpms lower. You should be okay with it as long as you don't do any towing, you wouldnt have great towing power w/ 3.08s anyway.
