I have no idea what to do with my room mate anymore. He doesn't clean the apartment and thats what I'm really pissed about. He has his own room but yet he sleeps in the living room. I complain about this because i share a room with another kid and its not fair that we share a room and he doesnt use his. Now hes complaining to me because when he falls asleep i turn off the tv which is being used. He saids that he cant sleep without the tv on for some reason. I've tried talking to him but he yells right back in my face about it.
I'm not sure what to do anymore. This kid and i have been friends for awhile now and i dont want to ruin are friendship over this apartment issue. So what should i do?
wow tough. It sounds like when Ashley was in college. Roomate was a nudie. Roomate wanted tv on, liked using ash's limited space just because ash wasnt using it at time etc. Some roomates and relatives who come to visit are like raw fish under the couch they start to stink after a few days.
Reminds me of the good old college days too, time to move on. You just can't reason with some people be it in politics, religion or cleaning the apartment.
Have you actually confronted him in person about it?
Well i did confront him about the T.V issue and that's when he just got up set about it and kind of yell at me. I wouldn't care as much about this if it was in his room but because its in the living room and its my T.V, it kind of frustrates me.
No matter what you do, the problem isn't going to go away. Best case you might make it better for a little while. Moving the TV is just a band-aid solution. The real problem is the roommate and his lack of consideration for others. If it's not the TV, he will find something else to be inconsiderate about. Bottom line, cut your losses and either move or get a new roommate.
> He saids that he cant sleep without the tv on for some reason
I know some people like that. My solution if I valued the person as a friend, would be to buy a cheap $50 TV off CL and install it in his bedroom or buy a TV video card for his PC if he has one in his room and run a line to it.
Go to collegehumor dot com and search Roomate Confesions. There you will find all kinds of great ideas to convince your roomate to moveout on his own free will. If not, at least you will get a laugh out of it.
