I picked up a cheap, Ford rear deflector the other day but it didn't have any mounting hardware - probably why it was cheap. I've searched through the forum to see if anyone had any good pictures of how it mounts up. I haven't found any good pictures, and haven't been able to find the hardware seperate.
If anyone has any pictures, instructions or ideas, please let me know.
Is it small enough to be "glued to the window? There are two ways I've seen them mounted, directly double sided taped to the back glass or using stand off brackets to either the glass or the body depending on how they fit.
Maybe they can provide an install/bracket kit. I checked e-bay as well and only came up with a few results, all for new deflectors. Nothing about mounting kits or used ones that might come with them.
I wonder if this would eliminate the dust build up around the barn doors? I thought they were mostly for looks. Certainly not for down-force or racing applications.
Like ReAX stated, maybe you can use double stick automotive trim tape or fab your own brackets with spare parts from your garage.
Before you do that. Find a part number for an AVS or lund and call them. AVS is most likely the manufacture of yours, but I haven't dealt with them much. Lund was always great about shipping out parts when I got one of their products missing them.
Ford doesn't make bugshields, rain guards, sun roof deflectors or rear window deflectors. AVS does a lot of OEM work, and would be my first suspect for making fords. It's a few minutes on hold either way, but would be easier than trying to find the parts.
I think mine is a Lund, bought off of ebay for about $60 as I recall. Works fairly well. Mounts I think to the top via the hinges for the door. Might be a picture in my gallery - if not I will take one tomorrow. Truck isn't here now as I have it back at my mechanics having Xenon HID's installed - hopefully.
Thanks for reminding me....will snap a couple tomorrow in the daylight.
Lights turned out well, finally....I left it there the week before Turkey Day and finally picked up this week. There's pictures posted under the thread "front hitch mount" or something like that a few days back...I have failed to upload all of these to the gallery on here as well.
Thanks, no worries. I'll have to check out your pics on the new lights, one of those wanna-do-sometime things.
got a front hitch in the garage I need to install one of these days too - probably put that off till spring
When I installed mine I believe the only hardware was 4 either 10-24 or 1/4-20 screws, single sided sticky tape to seal the holes and two plastic 1" plugs. What you really need is the install templates for drilling the holes. I would advise you to make a template from the deflector demensions before you drill the 4 holes. Also, you will need, I believe, a 1" hole saw. To install it you need to hole saw the inside of the liftgate to get to the mounting holes you drilled in the outside of the liftgate. The inside of the liftgate is fiberglass so take your time with the hole saw. After you mount the deflector the two plastic plugs cover the 1" access holes. You should be able to get the screws, tape and 1" plastic plugs at any hardware store.
OBTW - I did not buy my deflector to remove dust from the rear window. It does a bad job of that. I know, I live on a 1 mile gravel road. I installed the deflector to reduce aerodynamic drag.
