I have experienced a situation.....If I run my tank down low and pull in to fill up, when I start the truck after fill up it almost stalls does this mean I should change my filters????
No. Mine will do this to. Everytime my truck goes under 50 miles to empty on the trip computer, it will do this when you go to start it. Every time a fill up and the trip computer reads below 50 miles to empty, i prime the system before i turn it over. Turn key to on but dont start. Let the pump cycle for 20-30 seconds then turn the key off. Do this three times and it will fire up fine. It aint good to run the tank low!
when was the last time the filters were changed. Are you using the Racor/Ford Fuel filters with the water guard fabric. Up here the company I service Diesels for was using Napa filters and the trucks wouldnt start when it got to 30* out. The fuel filters should be replaced every 15k.
Otherwise what was stated above is correct. As for me I never let it go below 3/4 of a tank, 1. because its expensive to fill, I have a 60 gallon tank, 2. its not good for the fuel system.
Agree on that to. My buddies 05 keeps on throwing the water in fuel light. He told me "I keep draining the thing but it wont shut off." I was at his little shop last night when we put his gauges on and saw a Wix filter box and told him the deal about the aqua block on the motorcraft/racor filters. Charged him $20 for the set of filters i had in my toolbox and he called today and said problem solved!
