Working over my 66 F-100. Many years ago someone installed a really funky cheap floor shifter. That shifter must go..... as it is super sloppy and not usable anymore. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best Shifter (Make and Model part number etc) available out there to use behind my 360 V8???
For auto's I like the B&M unimatic shifter or even a quick silver ratcheting style. I know ratcheting are more for racing but you get positive stops to keep from dumping it in reverse or if you want to down shift one gear at a time. One pull and you are in 2nd, two pulls in first, or push it into neutral. You have to lift the **** to put it in park or reverse.
For the Ford 3 speed toploader, which I assume you have, I prefer the Hurst Mastershift line. I think they are better shifting and better built than any of the other 3 speed shifters I have experience with. I've had these in a '66 Mustang and I have one in my '65 F-100. You can get it and the install kit from Summit.
