I am doing a frame off restoration of a 55 f 100 and i am wanting to upgrade to a more modern setup on the chassis all around. I am ordering a mustang II setup for the front doing rear disc brakes and swaying back and forth between a 4 link for the rear or sticking to leafs with caltracs. I am going to be running about 600 horsepower and will definatly need traction. I was thinking about lowering it at least 3 inches. I am unsure if that will acheive the look i am after seeing as i cannot find a definate picture of a 3 inch dropped truck. (anyone have one by chance?). Now for the rapid fire questions..... Will i have to C notch the frame on a 3 inch drop? Whats the easiest way to get the mustang II down to 3" drop from the 2 it already comes with. And the pros and cons of a 4 link compared to a leaf/ traction bar setup. Sorry for the long post but i just wanna make sure im not making this decision harder than it should be. Thanks

why mustang 2? what kind of budget ? why 3 inches not to be difficult but you seem to have a plan but with 600 hp I would think the best would be how to get this power to the ground is this for street or strip that is the question

Im building it mainly for street use. Im going with the mustang II just on the ease of the install and the availability. Any other suggestions? Im not sure on a budget but around 15-18 thousand for the whole rebuild sounds about right as of now maybe more maybe less but thats the ballpark . On the 3 inch drop question, i am not set on that yet but i think it will acheive the look i want. And as far as getting the power to the ground from the motor. Well that is one of my main concerns. I know that you can get that power to the ground fairly easy, it's just what the best setup will be i.e. suspension, gearing, tires etc.

Check out my rear suspension gallery for a different approach. 8.8 explorer, 4:10 gears, truck arms, airbags, panhard bar and some monster tires and wheels.

I would like to stick with the 9 inch. i had an 8.8 in a race truck i built and it was a pain in the @$$ when it came time to change gears. As far as airbags go... im not looking for adjustable ride heights or anything like that but ill keep the option open. I am picky i dont really wanna tub my truck if i can help it but it is definatly on my mind if i can't cram the size tire i need under it.
