Speedo/ Odo-- Still dont work!

Speedo/ Odo-- Still dont work!
98 Ranger 3.0 4x4 5sp.man Replaced diff abs sensor- no change. Works at start up for about 3to 5 miles then jumps and quits, pulled cluster out and wires looked good, any other sensors on this? Is it narrowed down to a new cluster? Does anyone know where i can get one if needed Thanks--Dan

Well lets see if we can think this one through.
Do you have a CEL lit???? If so have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Most autoparts stores will do it at no charge.
If you have a speed sensor, or ABS trouble code set, then maybe suspect the speed sensors wiring or electrical connector.
I suppose the new speed sensor could be bad, as I've seen bad new parts right out of the box, although unlikely, it's possible.
I suppose the speed-o itself could be acting out.
If you come to suspect it, try hooking up a scantool to the diagnostic port that'll read the speed sensors PID's to the speed-o & see if the PID goes away, when the speed-o acts out & stops working.
If the speed sensors PID is still there, suspect the speed-o, if not, then suspect the new speed sensor, the wiring, or the wiring electrical connector pins or sockets, that go to the speed sensor.
Maybe try a salvage yard, if you come to believe the speed-o is the culprit!!!!
