I stand corrected - my radio does have the phone button on it. When I push it says "no phone". Hmm?
So I get out the manual and look it up and it says pressing the phone button results in a message display of "no phone". WOW, what rocket scientist came up with this? I didnt find any explanation of the button other than this.
So I remember my wife's working as a mute button so I pulled out the manual for her car. Sure enough it says it is intended to mute the volume. Her radio looks just like mine but obviously this particular function is different.
My guess is that this is something intended to be used with Sync. It wasnt an option on my 08 but Ford often installs parts of features like this before the entire option is available. Next time you have a trailer hooked up go through your message display options and you will see something that says TBC Gain. It has no purpose on a 08 truck but its in the PCM programming to prepare for a 09 feature. Go figure.
