as long as u get a good body lift from a well known manufacture it shoud not be to hard. just have a couple of buddies with u to help out. Performance Accessorys make a good kit, it comes with all of the parts including brackets to relocate your bumpers plus detail instructoins
Bumpers, fuel and brake lines, fan shroud, misc transmission and other linkages, etc..... there is a lot more that goes into doing a body lift properly. Can I ask why you want to do a body lift over a suspension lift? Body lifts are downright dangerous when put under stress.
To my knowledge, no one makes a 4" block lift... because its downright dangerous (3" is the "safe" limit). We aren't talking about seat covers here... the suspension is one of those integral pieces of your truck, and its not someplace to skimp. It is really in your best interest to save up for the suspension lift. Also, the body lift will only afford you room to put bigger tires on. It does nothing for your ground clearance... which is typically pretty important when doing an offroad capable setup.
I have another question... I found a 3" front 2" rear "lift kit" from Fat Bob's Garage.... The info says it makes it possible to run 33" tires on 2wd models. It's only $189. Do you think this is for real? Also, do I even need the 2" in the rear of can I just go with the 3" front leveling kit ($109). With the 3" front 2" rear, and a little trimming, could I run 35s?
i am 100 percent sure that you cant run 35s with just a 3in standard leveling kit..i was going to get just that leveling kit for my 05 f150 2wd and the guys at custom truck shop laughed at me..they said it simply wont fit...stick with the suspension..

Do you think I could with that 3" front 2" rear lift kit?
yes sir..to me i feel that would be your best bet..thats what they were going to do with my truck 3" front 2" rear
no, you still will not be able to fit 35" tires. the truck will be about 1" too short even after that.
I understand you want some big tires (35")...but you have to understand your suspension first.
4x2
can fit 32" tires stock without any rubbing
33" tires can fit, but they are pretty much 100% guaranteed to rub
with a 2.5" leveling kit, you can fit 33-34" tires. wider/taller will likely rub, but a 11" to 12" wide should be just fine.
with a 2.5" leveling kit + 4x4 shocks you can fit 35" tires. but this will place alot of stress and weird angles on your upper/lower control arms...really can't recommend it.
4x4
stock can fit a 33" tire without any problems.
34" can fit, but again, about 100% chance of rubbing
with a 2.5" leveling kit, a 35" tire fits fine, and with proper rim selection, no rubbing will occur
the reason a 4x4 can fit 35" tires and the 4x2 cannot is due to the shocks. 4x4 shocks sit 1" taller than 4x2 shocks.
in addition, the 4x4 has a 2" rear block. a 4x4 can fit 35" tires without any mods needed out back. a 4x2 is gonna need that 2" block. otherwise a 33" tire is all you should run out back.
also to add in about body lift Performance accessories body lift says not for off roading which i find funny also says it stress out the body and frame ...they give you a warning sticker with the kit that say it ...after doing my body lift it was one of the reason i got my f150 ...after have steering issues i called Performance accessories body and they sad it was normal and sent me a few parts told me to do some more cuting and bending..i wasn't very happy
