The big 3 try again!

Tomarrow the big 3 go before congress to try again for a bailout. They recieved so much flack last time for ariving in thier private jets. To help change public opinion, how do you think they should come to Washington this time? I believe walking would send a real message as to thier poverty, but highly doutfull. So what do think?

They could carpool in Rick's Chevy Volt prototype, but it probably wouldnt make it. First class airline fare is only about $800, the easiest low-key choice.

Heard today that they won't use corp. jets

Just this afternoon they said there won't be the corporate jets, but didn't say how they would travel.

Why couldn't they drive their own company's products? Or charter a bus and go together...remember what granny used to say? "Birds of a feather flock together?"

Well, they ARE 'of a feather', no doubt about that.

Security...I never bought that...convenience for the individuals involved? You betcha.

Now matter what mode of transportation they take this time, I don't think it will do much to change public opinion regarding how the last trip was made.

Greyhound would be good.

The private jet issue was just another small nail in their public preception coffin. Oh, that and the fact 0 out of 3 CEO's had a clue when asked if they had a stable plan to put all this tax money...I mean bailout money towards in order to stay afloat.

I think they made their own beds.....

I just heard on the news as I was scrolling down this post that GM is concidering bankruptcy, bailout or not. It may help thier a mediate sistuation, but I think it would cause people to shy off from buying thier products. People would tend to be leary of buying a vehicle from a company thats in bankruptcy. Back to the subject, seeings how there all comming out of Detroit, car pooling together wouldn't be a bad idea. However, each CEO more than likey has a group of people comming with them. They should at least come in thier own product's.

Trouble has been brewing for the GM and Ford for at least the last 3 years. Nothing was changed except the wages of the CEOs... They knew about this for a long time... Why do wait until the crisis to start begging for money?

Ford has had a plan since they hired Alan and it was working untill the melt down. Actually the UAW had made some huge consessions, but they don't take effect untill 2010. I don't think ford intended on begging for money. Once the begging started, they weren't going to get left out. There will be changes at the big 2, chrysler is allready dead for all practicle purposes. If GM goes into bankruptcy, that could be thier swan song. Not because the bankruptcy wouldn't help them short term, I just think it will scare people off from buying from them. With chrysler all but dead, GM concidering bankruptcy, ford could find it's self looking pretty good and could find a whole new crop of customers. At anyrate, there's big changes comming to the american auto indusrty, forced or vuluntary, there comming all the same. The strong will survive, let the best man be left standing at the end. There's even been rumors that the big 3 will have to combine to form a new american motors. Ford and chevy under the same roof would be hard to swallow for a die hard ford fan like me. That would just plain suck!!!

If Fords quality would be better they wouldn't have any issues. The Focus is a good car. The F150 is a good car but there are gaps. And the diesel gaffs of the last 6 years looming in their memories it would be a really hard sell.

Rumor has it that GM is talking of axing a few brands like Pontiac and Saturn, may as well cut Buick and GMC too. No sense in selling all the same cars with different names on them, I never understood it anyways. Just like Ford and Mercury - WTF - waste of money since day 1!

Ford has improved thier quality according to JD Powers and I"ve never had a problem with ford quality, I've been driving them all my life. As far as the diesel, ford as cut thier ties with international, which was the source of most of thier problems. Besides it didn't seem to hurt super duty sales, there's a blue million of them working hard around here. There's more super duties than any other brand, on farms, in construction and pulling trailors.

Care to share a link? Proof? Reason I ask because for years General Motor Trucks ( Chevy and GMC ) combined have outsold F-Series. Now who's not to say your right, but the actual #'s don't favor your statement.

There's no link, it's general observation in my area as I live in farm country and work construction. Also at my ford dealer where I have been buying for 18 years. All thier super duties are diesels. When I ask why, they said thats all that people in this area want. When I purchased my 01 SD, I had to order it to get a V-10. At that time back in 01, all they had on the lot were diesels or the 5.4's, now it's all diesels.. My dealer is a small town operation in the heart of farm country in Wellington Ohio. I don't have proof, it's just what I see around home and out on the jobs. Actually, you see more dodge rams out on the jobs than chevy or GMC. However I'm sure each area is different and may not be a reflection nation wide

Back on topic, I heard just today on fox news, that the ford executives are going to DC in a hybrid escape. They also said ford expects to break even by 2011 even with out a bailout, that they are in the best shape of the 3. However, if either of the other 2 file for bankruptcy, it could have a negitive impact on ford. I don't understand why, I would think that would bring ford more customers, but thats what they said.
