Well last week I towed my RV from Baton Rouge to Tulsa, no problems the truck was perfect, even the cruise control worked most of the time. When I got to tulsa I set the Rv up in a RV park & then went shopping, no problem. The next morning I get up, it's cold so I let the truck warm up for about 5 minutes get in & take off, when I get to the 1st. corner I realize that I don't have any brakes, so I go back to RV. Later that day I tried again but this time I warmed the truck up for about 30 minutes & it made a difference, the brakes worked but not good, I noticed that as I drove it the brakes began to work better but there is a swushing sound when I apply them.
Now let me say that about 1 1/2 years ago I spent a lot of money to rebuilt the entire brake system, master cylinder, drums & discs, abs valve, 2 brake lines, brake pads.
Now that I am here this truck is my only transportation, I have to fix it now, any ideas? Are any of you from the Tulsa area? if so could you recommend a reputable shop?
after reading the thread ( FYI brake fix ) it sounds lite it could be the vaccum pump, does anyone have a picture that shows the location of this pump on engine?
The older ones the pump is directly the altenator if what i've read yours will be right on top of the motor. Your hearing a wooshing sound I would suspect the vacuum booster.

Check my gallery. The pic of the drivers side of engine. You can see the top of the pump between the rad. cap and the ac compressor.
You will need a pulley puller (azone free) to remove the pulley and replace it. Do the test first on my photo link..... need a guage Azone has them too.. Part Number: CP7803

Booster gets my vote too because of the sound when pressing the pedal.
Remember also that no power assist means just that, the brakes are just as good as ever, you just have to push the pedal harder. Good luck with it , it`s a bummer when something happens away from home.
