I'll bet those 5.4's sip gas compared to my 5.8l. I had to put a 33 gallon Bronco tank in the back of mine to have any range at all when towing my 5th wheel.

Bought a Flowmaster cat-back today. Hoping to slip away tomorrow to install it. I kinda forgot to mention to Tina that Santa got it for me...

I got probably 7.5 to 8.5 mpg pulling my 5th wheel. Sounds like Santa is being good to you this year.

I dont mind those 351's at all, but easy on gas they werent!

We had an 86 with a 4 barrel carb, and that thing had all kinds of power (in a 3/4 ton truck) but we had a 100 gallon slip tank in the back when we pulled our travel trailer anywhere!

I'm starting to learn that if I want Santa to be good the way I want Santa to be good, I need to be Santa. Otherwise I end up with more sweaters...with reindeer on them...

Still raining...

I want Santa to bring me a tuner..........wow he did. I hope he brings me some gauges as well.......I think he might. I wonder if he has a welder kicking around somewhere.

Cloudy but mild here today. Snow can't be far off.

I bought myself a new miller last summer....love it, so easy to weld with, nd makes a good backup gen set if the power goes out also.

Do you do welding for a job saleenguy?

I like those welders with an engine on them, but they go for pretty good coin around these parts still!

I build custom snowmobiles, and repair them....build custom parts to.
Also work on ATV's, motorbikes, build truck decks, and such.

Ya the Cat diesel in it is sweet, but not cheap.

Just a small wire feed welder nothing too fancy. Something that works well for auto restoration. I can use it when I dump my cat and maybe muffler as well. Something probably in the $400-$500 range. Don't think I need anything with a Cat diesel connected too it.

Raining here now.

Freezing rain coming down, and i stepped out the front door, and fell down on a sheet of clear ice.

I bought a small one that I can carry easily, and it works great to.
Got it at Costco maybe 2 years ago.

Its perfect for stuff like exhaust work etc.
Just not capable of welding any heavy steel or such.

My big welder really shines I find welding aluminum, as its very stable so easier for me to weld with.

Saleenguy, sounds like you have a pretty cool job!

Chris, I dont think anyone NEEDS a welder with a cat diesel in it, but everyone WANTS one! I know I sure as hell would!!

I have a smaller mig right now too thats a carry type, and I love it, comes in so handy. I do want to get a larger mig though, thats capable of doing alot more heavier stuff. Ah one day!

Gotta be carefull of that ice fellas! We didnt get rain, but we got a little bit of snow, maybe a few inches.

hi all,
you don't need a cat powered welder to weld floor boards or exhaust pipe.
now if your welding plate steel that a whole different ball game.
