Hi guys , I want to know were do you look to find what type of rear end gearing that you have? I have a 1999 F350 4x4 cc longbed with a V10 and plan on putting Kumho 37x13 tires on it. My truck gets off the line pretty good but I just want to know before I go and put bigger tires on. Thanks guys.
Cool, I checked and it had D3 under axle = 4.30. Will this gearing be up to the task of 37x13 r20 tires?
Hey Pete,
I'm currently running this set-up. LSD 4.30 37x14.50x16.5 (Super Swamper Tires) It also has a 6 inch lift. I get about 9-10 mpg, at 65mph my tachometer reads 2050. I take it easy on the go-pedal for more mpg if you know what i mean. To answer your question, yes it will be up to task. However, a lot of owners prefer the 4.56. I should have gotten the 4.56 but the 4.30's seem to pull fine for my needs. BTW, are you planning a lift for those 37" tires. I have ran 35" in tires stock form with minor rubbing on the fender walls.
Yes V10 Cougar, I plan on getting a 6.5 Pro Comp lift with 37x14-50 r20 in January. I myself drive like an old lady at times for better mpg. Do you have any rubbing with those tires with a 6 inch lift?

I get minimal rubbing when making a sharp left or right turn. This happens when entering small compact driveways and or a very, very sharp turn. In this case I should have gone with a 6.5 in lift. But all in all, it's nice when towing a TT and it's really nice on off-road. These tires seem to like mud/rocks, my last pair of shoes (BFG A/T) were excellent set of tires but off-roading was minimal.
When you get a chance? Post some pics of the lift with your new tires.
