CAI questions.

I'm currently driving an 02' Screw with a 5.4L 4x4.
I've been looking for a CAI does anyone on here recommend one over the other, I've been told that Volant is the way to go for it utilizes the fender well but I like K&N but more for the name. Any suggestions?

First of all WHY? I would go with a Volant today if I were buying. Be really careful when using an oiled filter as you can cause the air flow sensor to act up.

Any CAI with a closed box to keep the heat out is best!

And K&N is an oldschool overhyped filter. On todays vehicles, attention to detail is very important. I used to have K&N on three of my vehicles. I have gotten rid of it on all three larely because it was fouling up the MAF sensor, which messes up the fuel management.

Pulling in cold air is important, that is what will give you more power and give you consistent power. Volant is one brand that puts attention on cold air and also on making sure it stays as cold as possible. I would definitely consider them. I wouldn't rule out AFE, I have been happy with their filters, though I have never tried a complete intake.

Are you going to supercharge the truck? If not, don't even bother with an intake. You're not going to be flowing any more than the stock intake can handle.
