Proper orifice tube??

Hi there, recently I was driving my F150, 1995 on highway and then suddenly the AC stop cooling. Since I was very far away from home, I went to the first AC service shop found in next town, Compressor was running but no cold air, so we took off the orifice tube and found it was totally cloged.

The original orifice tube was red color but the guy has only white and blue, he said those are samething and installed a blue one, after charging againg the AC is working again and here is my question...

What's the difference betwen Red, Blue and white tubes??? should I get the red one?

I have a F150 1991 wich still using R12, the orifice tube is different to used on R134a ???

Thanks, any comment will be appreciated...

Each color is a slightly different size orifice. Some aftermarket equivalents are avaliable that may have a different color. If it is working I wouldnt worry about it. If you convert to R134 I would just match what ever the 1994 model calls for. Of course most conversions arent true conversions and performance may be degraded no matter which you use.

The difference between the Red and Blue tubes isn't enough to worry about.
I would be much more concerned about where the debris came from that plugged the original tube. Debris doesn't just "form" in an AC system, it came from somewhere. It sounds like your compressor is starting to shed it's innards or the desiccant bag in the accumulator has ruptured. The plugged orifice was only a symptom, not a cause.
