How do I get my money back

I took over my fathers farm a few years ago, I am using his equipment most of it is pretty decent. We have a Gleaner combine that dad bought new back in 96, I used to workin in a farm machinery salvage yard and found gleaner does in fact make the most well built combine. I could explain why, but not now. Any way when dad bought this combine it didnt have a straw chopper. So I had the dealer who sold him the machine come out and install one, last september. Now the parts guys have messed more almost everytime i go there to get parts, turns out there mechanics arent any brighter which is why I drive about 100 miles to do business with another dealer. The pully attached to the chopper shaft wasnt secured all the way and worked loose today grinding the pully out until the key way was gone, doesnt appear to have had a key. Now I have to find out if the shaft is any good if thats the case the whole chopper is no good. I do believe this is an error on part of the mechanics that installed it. Their not much into the combines they sell, seem to know more about the bobcats and kubota utility tractors but nothing else. Ive had them come out and fix an eletric clutch problem on several occasions that they had no idea how to fix. What do I do to get my money back for the chopper and install?

I don't know about combines, but by your description I would says you are out of luck getting your money back..

They will just say it worked it's self loose and they are not responsible..

How long did it work for?? If you only used it a few hours after they worked on it you may have a complaint, but if it was days or weeks then you will have to eat this one..

You might try and complain to the owner of the place, maybe they will work a deal with you..

My 2 cents

Clearly you have to complain to the installing dealership.
Hey-they installed it, not you. They should stand by their work. Heck, it is tough enough to make a living of any kind farming full time without having to absorb the costs of others mistakes.
Common sense does dictate that one should check a piece of equipment before each season's use, but I would interpret that to mean check belt tension and condition as well as lube points, not check every single nut and bolt (and set screw) on the machine before each use!
