ghosts??

hey every1 i have a 2001 f-250 w/7.3td im wondering is my glow plug relay is going out, on november 3 i went to start my truck and i turned the ignition on the wts light came on for what has always seemed normal, and when i went to start it just kept turning over it wouldnt fire. eventually it started after tuning it over a couple times and letting the heat from the cylinders do the work. this has happened 3 times in november out of proabally a hundred times that it has started. all feed back is well appreciated

Well your GPR or GP could be weak do you have alot of smoke when you get the truck started? Also how old are you batteries and do they have above 750 cold cranking amps? Synthetic oils also help out on cold starts when you do get the truck fired up, it runs alot smoother.

You can also plug the block heater up all night or just three hrs before you start the truck (located behind the drivers side tow hook).

Here is a good write up complied to be able to check your GPs.

the truck is pluged in regularly. when its turning over but not starting it gets a little of white smoke, and when it accually starts it revs up a little with minor black smoke

Sounds more like a battery or Alt problem, get those both checked out.

I'm with JD... Check all your connections and if those are good have your Batt's and Alt. Tested...

cowbot49--11.8 volts is not enough to propely start these trucks. If my batteries get below 12 volts, I have a hard time starting mine when it is cold. I would replace the batteries and try it again. Remenber to replace both not just one.

goodluck and let us know what happens.
