Transmission Fluid Drop

Hey Y'all
I was just wondering what it cost at your local stealership to get the tranny fluid replaced. I just got to that time and kinda wanted a guestimate on what it is going to cost.
Thanks in advance,
~Jstnromero

i would do it myself...but my apartment complex hates me working on my truck....they are real uptight....as for the places locally other than my dealership, i would not trust a beater to them

190.00 in nh at the dealer. You cant do it yourself correctly unless you have a pump to flush the system completly.

ya i dont have access to the pump....I would just rather have the dealership do it for me and do it to Ford spec. I just wanted a feel to see how hard it is going to hit the pocket....not too bad tho (under 200 bucks) thanks a lot guys I appreciate the help

I got mine done at STS Tire Center. Labor was $40.00 to fully backflush the system, But I brought my own fluid because I only use AMSOIL. If you take your own, especially synthetic, make sure they fully clean out the machine before they use your fluid and supply them with an extra quart or two because of the hoses.

I went to ford bought 8-qts of fluid and the filter and did mine myself. I feel i did a good job on it and all seams to be correct.

Mark,

Doesn't sound like you did a complete change. The 4R70 and 4R75 transmission holds 13.9 quarts plus a bit more if you have the auxillary cooler. Its why I'd take it to a shop to do it, to pump out the torque converter and complete system as well. Additionally, the pumping is usually under high pressure to clean out the lines.

I had a guy at Grease Monkey do my 01, and it was $80.00. I don't see how they could screw it up to be honest. The machine hooks up, you check flow direction, it sucks out the old while pumping the new. When the new is empty, it's done.

it would be very easy to do it yourself.... all you need is a double acting linear actuator, and some fittings. afterall, thats all that the shops "expensive machine" is. and im sure you could get an actuator fairly cheap... then even your friends would pay you to do it for them.

Ken,

I know i didn't flush the convertor. At about 50k i will have the shop do it as i tow with this truck about 2-3 times a week with it. It see's it's share of towing. But i do take real good care of the truck and it takes care of me.
