i need to find 3 different wires on my truck. hopefully some one has a simple way to find them.
I need to access the left and right turn signals (some where under the dash preferably)
I also need to find a wire for my backup lights which i just added tonight.
I have searched all sorts of threads and seem to get mixed results and after tons of frustration testing what seems like a kilzillion wires i decided to ask for some help....
What are you wiring to the turn signals? I'm guessing your 08 mirrors? You dont want to add too much to the trucks signals due to overloading the flasher, but the mirrors would be fine.
As for the reverse lights, are you looking for a wire to power them or one to turn on a relay?
The meter should be set to DCV. Touch the black lead to a good ground (there's a bolt under the dash for ground wires) and check the wires with the red lead.

yes the turn signals are for the mirrors.
As for the reverse lights i am putting in a relay with a switch
Thanks for the help with the meter, the only other question i have is why when i tun it on and am not touching anything with it does it give me all sorts of readings like -30 all the way up to 50 or 60?
The wiring diagram shows light green/white for the left and white/light blue for the right. They should be somewhere under the dash, more towards the center I think. If you're looking for power for the switch, you can simply tap into the cigarette lighter wire.
Some meters give those funny readings and I cant remember why exactly. It should read 0 if you touch the leads together though.
Thanks Twag! where are you able to look at the wiring diagram?
I bought the factory service manual for my truck along with the wiring diagram manual, PCM manual, and torque spec book. It was somewhat expensive, but has definately paid itself off. Unfortunaly nobody's posted a link to anything other then the service manual. Here's a link to the online copy for the 99's https://www.motorcraftservice.com/pu...21/SXOMAIN.HTM
