89 f350 idle HELP

i got a 1989 f350,351w. when the truck is at idle it seems to be racing and when i put it in reverse or drive it speeds up even more. i need to figure out how to turn down the idle. any help wil be appreciated. thank you

the iac may be the problem.

how do i go about finding out and fixing it if thats the problem

Ditto. My truck idles at 2k+ when warm. Cold idle seems fine.

it is on the side of the throttle body.

look in your manual for where it is on your truck.

do an advanced search in this section for 100's of hits on this problem.

Easier to buy 30 ft of vacuum hose and just replace the orginal plastic lines one at a time. The plastic gets brittle from cold and heat cycles of running engine and cooling/cold of a none running engine.
