as i said i"m bored and i have got no working speedo heads out of 3 of them for my 53 so .... i slightly altered the speedo from the 63 clunker , and the housing for it and the extra from the 55 i perted , made a roghfiller and this is what i came up with . gonna obviously make it prettier , and put to temp gauges , one on either side from the two 53 & 55 units behind the speedo and a voltmeter and an as of unyet decided gauge on the outside in the new filler panel i'll make . already have a mechanical ol gauge in the dash where the p.o. put one . that extra peice of dash is gonna get altered to to make an extension to hide the new heater defroster from a later model toy truck , and the switches and some other electrical widgets will go where the speedo use to be . thatt opening will be in the center where my factory controls are after i get done cutting . oh and yeah i didn't butcher a good dash . the bottom half was really ate up on it , no fixing it without major surgery !
55f350,
I have a cluster but I never ran the speedometer so I don't know if it works. Don't know how tight your budget is but I got an Equus speedometer from JC Whitney about 9 years ago they still have them for $57.99, Amazon.com also the same one for $22.19 #7072. Mine has been working great its 3 3/8".
jaye i thanx for the info . but i am a notorious tight a-- , and i'm saving what i can by trying to use what i have , so i can spend the money in better places . like the flatty needs some tlc , getting the pins bushings etc . to finish up gathering the parts so i can drop it a little , and upgrading the brakes . i just try to be thrifty . and i wanna be just slightly different.......
