Time for new headlights

In the next month i'm going to be buying some of those Lightning headlights and corners off of Ebay... but, I have a few questions about them...

-I have heard that the early(IE: 97-98s) cant use the Lightning lights without some sort of modifications.. what would I need to do?

-Is there a preferable brand to buy?

-What bulbs should I buy for the new lights?

Thanks

Personally,Id get a set of OEMs and buff them out.Theres a kit called Micromesh, that Ive used over the years that brings the acrylic outside back to its new finish.I had a set of the originals on my 97,and they were in bad shape.Bought a set of OEMs off ebay, poilshed them out,and they still look new 3 years later.

Yeah I have already cleaned and buffed the headlights once when I first bought my truck... which I would just do it again but I like the looks of the lightning style lights better anyways. I can get the Lightning style for not much more than a set of OEM ones on Ebay. Its only $90 for the headlights and corner lights.

I bought some (and I have to look what kind) but they bolted right up, no problem! I bought the clear ones, like the Exp. model, wanted the HD/Lighting but OEM prices were carzy. I find out what name I bought, both headlights with bulbs were $95.00 with S/H! That was my Christmas present two years ago. BUT DO NOT put those blue (zeon) bulbs in they will melt the lense! A buddy of mine did and he bought the lights twice!

The headlights from 97-03 are compatable...I highly doubt there's a difference. I have Depo brand Lightning headlights + corners knock offs......never had a fogging issue with them, highly recommend them.

Hey Xtr.. where did you get your Depo lights? I cannot find them anywhere on Ebay, I found them on a website, but they were real expensive.

I found these on Ebay...

The oddball headlights are on early '97s made before 7/96 IIRC. I also had the Depo headlights and corners and never had a problem with them. After they were ruined in a wreck I went with whatever it is that LMC carries and they are just as good.

They pop up ever now and then on ebay, I also bought some Depo clear fog lights for my lower valance and are excellent as well. I bought mine Lighning headlights and corner from a local parts guys, and yes, they were a bit pricey...but still much cheaper than real ones from Ford.

Be careful buying from ebay, because on my last truck they started fogging up after my first car wash, and it was past their 14 days warranty, got stuck with some headlights that looked horrible... where as a retail site may cost more but backs up their product longer.
