Adapter for Code Reader

I was able to borrow a Actron CP-9145 code rader to try and figure out why my 1990 F-150 (302) won't start, the the connector on the code reader isn't condusive to the connection on my truck.....so, can I buy some sort of adapter so the code reader will connect to my truck?

is it obd I reader of obd II reader?

google that actron model and read the manual.

your truck is obd I.

that code reader may read both, that is why i said google the manual.

the adapter cable to read obd I from actron is $41.

you would be better off buying a obd I reader.
