Condenser wire

Neither a question or answer. Just something I thought I would pass along. My 53 had been cutting out lately. The other morning on the way home from work the engine went to about half power. I just got a chance to pull distributor cap about 1 hr. ago. The metal contact on the end of rotor had rubbed the insulation off the condenser wire and was shorting out. I put a piece of electrical tape on the bare part for temporary fix and bent the wire down. Runs fine now. I wish all problems were as easy to find and fix.

Good catch! Can you mount the condenser outside the dizzy, on the side of it or even at the coil?

Thanks. No,sir. It is an all original set up. It was my fault in letting the condenser wire stand up any way. Years ago I had a similar problem with a 1962 Thunder Bird I had at the time. On it the bracket that holds the condenser broke. And the condenser just bounced around inside the cap. Causing all sorts of havoc.
