5.0 timing

Hi everyone, I have a 1993 E150 with a 5.0 v8. It has almost 400,000 miles on the origional engine and trans. Mobil 1 in everything. This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned and still runs great. The air conditioner finally quit last summer and so I parked it till this winter to resurrect it.
My question is.
I have gutted the airpump years ago, disconnected the egr and all the pollution controls as they wore out and it runs fine. The timing with the wiring plug in disconnected is at 10 degrees like the manual says.
With the pollution stuff disconnected would I gain anything by advancing the timing a couple of degrees on the distributor?
I thought someone might have already done this and have their experience rather than me going to all the trouble.
The timing is adjustable on these with the spout connector unplugged then the computer takes over assuming the distributor has been set right initially.
When I bought it nearly new the timing from the factory was at 8 degrees and it did help it to bring it up to 10.
Anyway let me know what you have experienced.
Thanks for input
Andrew.
