I have a 2005 XLT 5.4 triton with a 5.5ft bed..just recently got a 6in procomp lift on 35s with 17'' rim..its sweet..but i want the truck to sound deep and groogly..like how a truck should sound..i have heard of magnaflow and flowmaster..what would work good without spending alot.want it loud but not to loud..Please help me asap//please....thanks
Cannot help you much with this one as i do not own an F-150.
But, on my 00 Explorer EB 5.0 i replaced mine with a cat-back full stainless borla. I got mine through saleen though. specially tuned for my suv. But, what i liked was it came so that it had that good sound to it and was not too loud. They suggested that if i wanted it louder that any exhaust place could open it up and take some material out in a few minutes and zip it back shut for me.
I like my Borla but would suggest you to hear from what some other F-150 owners an 5.4l guys have to say on this one.
Raw and Loud: The Flowmaster 40 series. No mistaking that the truck has a V-8
Civilized and Mellow: The Magnaflow. Gets the point across, but without the loudness of the flowmasters...although you can buy some 14" cherry bombs from that them that will set off car alarms
I've got the Magnaflow SIDO Kit #16614 on my F-150. Absolutely love it. Noise when you want it, quiet when cruising around with just enough throttle to maintain speed. Perfect mix of noise and quiet for me.
I've got a Flowmaster Super 40 on my 5.7 Hemi as well. Damn thing is LOUD. It does sound awesome though. Just louder than I like at times...but, I ain't 18 with a big block anymore
Id go to a reputable custom exhaust shop and tell them what you want. then have them make it for you should run about 400 bucks and it was well worth it, thats what i did cat back single in dual side outlet flowmaster
jbs
I will always recommend the Bassani brand. You will pay more for them... but for my buck, its worth it! I love the notes they give off. In fact... here is the system on my 06 F150 FX4. Let me know what you think
Your Bassani sounds alot like my Borla for my 5.0. I do not know about the Bassani but at highway speeds the sound isn't so bad on the Borla.
Rbelliston, keep in mind if you have someone inside the truck and your cruising you may not want it to be too loud. girlfriend, wife, mother etc. Do not make it so loud that you cannot hear the good looking thing next to you..unless that is what your looking for
wow. ya i love the sound of the bassani..ya really just looking for something like that...i am also wondering if i could get it at the same place where i got my truck lifted..Custom Truck Shop..i am sure they would have exhaust systems..you would think?? right? now does the flowmaster sound similar to the bassani?

They may be able to. Doesn't hurt to ask right? Exhaust systems aren't terribly difficult to install though, and you may want to search around buy it direct. All it really takes is typically an hour or two, and some wrenches and socket sets (and it never hurts to have a few cold ones to further "lubricate" the install ).
