Still having boost issues with D99

I installed a d99 a few months back. The truck has been down for a while.

Since the install I have had high EGT and lack of boost issues.

I have replaced the EGR tube or whatever its called. It was sooted and plugged. I've replaced the map sensor. I've replaced all the up pipes and donuts.

The system is without a doubt sealed.

I am pretty confident the EBPV is sticking. My boost is topping out at 15lbs. Once it hits about 13lbs I can hear a very audible swish, hiss, choking type sound.

Originally I thought it was due to a system leak. Which I did confirm with start up smoke coming up from under the hood. Since then I did all the pipes and donuts. The startup smoke is gone, but the wheez when she tries to boost is still there.

Does this sound like a potential EPBV? Is there a way to wire it open? I find its awefully hard to get the actuator, and I am unable to swing it one way or the other by hand.

Really appreciate any help that can be offered.

Did you unplug the EBPV?
You can wire it open...not to hard to do.

Exactly what I was looking for. The digrams are perfect.

Thanks a ton Jim. I sure hope this wraps up this round of issues.

Glad I can help.
I hope the EBPV is your problem. You've fixed just about everything else.

Chaos, Thanks for trying to give out some "Green Beans"

Well, here we are, over a year later and still no boost.

The shop I have it at works on it in their spare time, and they claim they have gone through everything.

According to them, the EBPV is functioning properly, and there are no boost leaks via a system pressure test.

Prior to dropping it back off with them nearly a year ago I change the copper egr line that is prone to plugging off. Although it was plugged off, it didnt actually make any change.

Then on the shops recommendation I changed the map sensor.

Now they are claiming it might be the map sensor. Apparently my year of truck prefers the "black" map. The new one I installed is grey. Not sure what all this mean but I have my doubts, since the truck wasnt working when I removed the original map.

Anyone else have experience with these map issues? If so, and the black one really is required for my 95 truck, do you know where I can get one?

Are you talking about the black MAP or the black CPS?

Definately map. Firewall, vac line, etc etc.

I changed the CPS a long time ago. Will a CPS cause this type of running issues? I always thought they just progressively caused stalling, and eventually a no start.

I spose I do mean 66.

You referring to the hoses on the intake spyder? Those are long gone since I first got the truck. Or do you mean the main air intake? Thats upgraded to the new style as well.

I had 29lbs of boost before this entered my friends shop. He test drove it after the install, hit alomst 40 psi.

I picked it up, something seems to have let go and cant get over an absolute max of 17 psi.

This is one of three trucks, so I let my freind take his time and fit it in between jobs, so its not a huge deal having it sit, but I would like to get this fixed.

OK, the black/grey thing threw me for a minute.

If you are having problems with the d66 I would talk to Bean and tell him your issues. They have a history behind them. Not that they are bad but issues nonetheless.

Beans has been consulted on this one from the get go. They were the ones to point at the map sensor.

I have FSM set for my truck at home, I will look up the stock part number, and get the number of the new map thats in there if possible.
