Ok i have a 2006 f350 w/8" rize lift. When I hit dips or bumps the steering wheel turn, I figure its bumpsteer. Had the truck aligned, but still pulls to left, trying to find a quality alignment guy, anyway would the bad alignment cause this. If the truck is properly aligned will I still have bumpsteer. Would adjustable trac bar fix this, any advice would be great.
if u have everything installed thats supposed to be there and still get bump steer, they should be able to give u some insite as to what might be wrong..
Bump steer occurs due to a front end geometry issue concerning the track arm and/or the steering drag link. The larger the angle from horizontal, the greater the bump steer; the flatter the angle the less bump steer. The track arm and steering drag link wants to move in an arc when the suspension compresses. As the axle wants to move straight up (due to the springs) it forces the track arm and/or steering drag link to move to the left causing the problem. You’ll need to either drop the track arm bracket at the frame and/or use a drop pitman arm off of the steer box. More radical lifts also require relocating the track arm bracket at the axle and moving the drag link locating point at the right steering knuckle. Good luck.
