I installed a Ford Sirius unit, bought off E-Bay.Truck is an 06 F250 does not have factory wireing for Sirius.Bought a harness for it when hooked up,using AUX button, got channel 184 ,weather.Called Sirius to get actvation gave ID# from unit, printed on back, but cannot get it to recieve activation signal.Cannot get radio to display ID by pushing AUX & #1 preset.Sirius rep thinks unit is bad. What I don't understand is unit is recieving signal for 184.Any help appreciated. Thanks
What adapter are you using, PIE, PAC, Axxess, Peripheral, other?
Since it's an OE tuner, I don't suspect there is a reception graph to show that you have plenty of signal? Were the antenna's wires cut or lengthened at any time?
No adapters.Using a wiring harness that connects same as factory harness.Use AUX button on radio and it picks up the sat unit. The AUX button works can get sat unit to play weather channel,184,which if i understand correctly means all connections are good and recieving sat signal.
I am not sure. I remember something in school about the weather and traffic channels being run off local repeaters and not on the satellite freqs. Otherwise one places weather/traffic would be transmitted over a 1/4 of the US.
If I am remembering correct, and I can check my notes tomorrow, then you may still not have the antenna connected or connected properly or have a short in the wires.
If I pull ant. wire it loses signal and weather is for Eastern U.S..My understandingis 184 weather is not blocked so when radio is installed you can verify operation before calling for activation.Would it be possible unit would have incorrect I.D. # on it?
Just curious, do you have a satellite antenna on your stock setup and if not, would that be causing your problem of the lack of a good signal for activation?
I know that the sat ant is in the base of the radio ant on my wife's MKX.
OK, and the sat ant has an unobstructed line of site to the open sky, correct?
(i.e. not buildings or trees blocking)
I mounted my sat ant in my F250 on the dash in the center and ran the wires behind the dash to the sat receiver. It was an add on the an Eclipse AVN 7000 head unit. Even mounted there, I had to find an open area for the radio to be activated the first time.
I spent a couple of hours today w/techs about Sirius unit. The unit I have is a 2008 unit Manfactured in 10/08.They say it is too new to work with my radio.Must use a unit that is 2007 or older(part # start w/7).I will try and get an older unit and see if they are correct. Thanks to those that responded.
