Well the hot start issues are still happening. It seems to be hit or miss though. One thing I noticed the other day while chasing this problem some more, I removed the fuel line from the carb after about 3 hours after driving, only to find that the fuel line down to the fuel pump was bone dry. Is this normal? Shouldnt there be gas in the fuel line to carb all the time? Maybe this is my hot start issue. The fuel pump is newer but that doesnt always mean squat. Anyones 2 cence would be great. Thanks.
Sounds like either/or two things. The valves in your pump are not sealing very good, allowing fuel to drain back. The other is after you shut down the engine, the temp under the hood may be getting high enough to boil the fuel in the carb and fuel line. You can change the pump for the valves, but the heat thing is something you can't change. You can always wrap the fuel line in insulating material, but how much help it will be is anybodies guess. I'm a fan of electric fuel pumps. You can install a push on, spring loaded off switch to run the pump before fire up like the newer EFI systems do automatically.

I had some issues with my old new edelbrock, i had a see thru filter and 2 new fuel pumps. Sometimes there would be very little gas in the filter, looked kinda scary. Then i got a holley 670 and it died a couple of times with the filter so i removed the see thru filter and never had a problem since. I don't know what caused that, maybe some venting issue, i don't know.
I think hot hot restart is more of carb problem than timing. I ended up running 18 for along time after all that jazz.
