It appears that NAPA does not catalog a part number for a thermostat for a 1960 F100 292...Any Y block for that matter. I checked '55 Fairlane, 61 through 64 Ford Pickup and there was nothing but the gasket. Anyone know what part numbers I can use?
I know im going brain dead, probably old age, but I thought napa was napa no matter
where you are. I bought one sometime in October 180* for a 64 F350 272 cid. I dont
have the p/n, my guy Steve did not look in computor or book, he just went to the
shelf and got me one. We have done business since 1951 there and maybe that helps.
Many times I go there with a part like a thermostat and they open boxes till they match.
Deyo, I would buy from NAPA and brand name like Stant at all costs. The AZ-style cheapies physically fit but are totally universal, not "engineered" at all for specific engines/vehicles. In one case I know of (Saturn) the AZ part is listed as OEM replacement, but actually opens at a temp 12 - 15 deg cooler. The cars never warm up. The good ones at NAPA are only maybe $5 more.
Edit: I just went to Stant's site, they aren't listing one....
Never suggested buying from Auto Zone just said they listed the part. Summit list's a thermostat for a 1960 Ford F100 V8 but I could not get a listing for a 292.
I snagged one at Carquest today, made by Stant in the Good Ol; U S of A. He got the part number from a book, of all places!
I had heard the same about Autozone's product years ago, which is why I tried Carquest first.
Thanks for the help.
