I experience a slight front end wobble when I drive over small bumps. From what I've read, this is a common problem with the SDs. I could see how this wobble problem could be magnified if I hit a bump off-road or on a wash-board gravel road. My question is whether an aftermarket stablizer or dual stablizer would eliminate this problem. I have a stock suspension (SD in signature); other than a leveling kit and the tires are only a tic larger than stock. Any suggestions/experience would be greatly appreciated.
I would try a new or dual stabilizer first. That would be the easiest and cheapest fix. Hopefully that would do it. After that ur into alignment and front end work $$$$. While ur under there wouldn't hurt to check out the ball joints and tie rod ends. Jack one wheel at a time just off the ground, support truck with a jack stand and have someone first move the steering wheel just a little, back and forth. See if you can see any play in the joints. Then try by museling the tire back and forth. A little play is normal but exsesive play could also be causing your problem
dfooch, I have seen many users post about the death wobble here but I have not seen any real fix other than what I think the TSB recommends but that still seems to be a hit and miss (more or less a miss).
I searched youtube and found some death wobble examples covering several types of vehicles new and old. But the interesting one I thought was this one YouTube - Jeep Problem-
Turns out it was this guys tires.

Just so you all know- It ended up being the tires... The dealership near my home kept it for the day and drove it and guess what, It shook! So they contacted Chrysler and they approved them to put on new
non-Wrangler tires. I now have Michelins and not had a problem since... It has been about 2 months..
4 steering stabilizers later, it was the Wrangler tires all along...
Might not be the complete solution as ponyboy elaborated about above but hopefully it gets you started...Good luck and be safe
Looks like you have an '06, hopefully its under warranty still. The Oscillation TSB calls for an alignment, tire balance, torquing and replacing the stock stabilizer (with a different model). It's well worth doing if under warranty. After that, if you aren't happy with the new stabilizer you could always go to a dual setup or replace the single with an Icon shock.
