Axle ratio code
Hi
Check under the truck, on the rear cover's bolts there shoud be a tag. One line should read for example:
3 27 8 8
the first numbers are the ratio, the second is the ring gear size, I think all newer f150s use the 8.8 rear.
if there is an "L" between the first numbers that is a "posi" or limited slip rear.

Axle ratio code
Just bought a '97 F150 S/C......4.2 and 4 spd auto.....No ownre's manual, etc.....was stolen at the car dealers after the truck was brought from the Ford Auction.
Question- sticker in left front door jamb gives axle code "U" ...anyone know what that is???
