Carrier Bearing
I have a 1985 Ford F150 with a 4" Rancho lift kit. My truck is an extended cab long box and it has a two piece rear driveshaft with a carrier bearing in the middle of the shaft. I am wondering if anyone would know if I need a carrier bearing spacer for it, In the instructions Rancho says 94 and newer trucks need the part but doesn't say anything about the older trucks. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
A stock u-joint with out a CV anywhere can handle up to a 3 degree angle maxumum suggested angle by manufactures so the needle bearings function properly. it is pretty easy to make the spacer just out of a piece of square metal tubeing. Unless you want to cut off your old spring perches and adjust your pinion angle and weld on a new set which is also pretty easy.
