EGR valve issues
1979 ford f150 351m my egr valve does not hold vaccum so i went in to my local autozone and purchase a new one and it doesnt hold vaccum ethier, i have never heard of and egr valve that dosent hold vaccum is that normal?

I have seen them not hold a vacuum, and they pass the emissions test visual inspection as long as they opened. I never bothered asking whether or not they were supposed to hold vacuum or not, I have seen em open, and not hold it, and open/hold it. I rekon its just another vacuum leak if they keep requiring more vacuum to keep it open. Maybe its a calibrated leak by design? I am not saying its right, I just know what I have seen.
As far as the parts house selling you a defective unit, go back with yours, and ask to test the one that they got in to replace the one you bought.
