Short headers
Any body out there have experience with the shorty headers on 351w? just put a set on friends 94 f250. beautiful install, everything went back together perfectly/bolted up [ if it hadnt been for that one bolt that broke and had to heli coil !] These were gibson headers, he doesnt drive the truck to much and has had no problems. Like to here some feedback, thinking of doing the same on my 93 f250 w/460.

Yes, shorties have a minimal if any gain. Opening up the rest of the exhaust system is much more effective.
The BIG gain to be had when removing the manifolds is with small diameter full length headers. They offer LOTS of low speed torque gain as well as gaining all the way through the power band.

Not much.. as stated the stock cats and Y-pipe are the cork in the system. You can eliminate the muffler and tailpipe completely and it won't make much differnce in power or noise, a little louder at idle but wind noise will quickly drown that out when under way.
