what else should I replace at 97,000

I have made my appointment to have the exhaust studs done- I cant stand listening to the tic tic tic tic any more- they are going to pull the motor and do all of the studs- is there any thing else I should replace while the motor is out as preventative maintenance? Its a v10 in a 2001 excursion with 97000 miles on it........ anything that normally goes on these that I can replace now with the motor out?- the shop isnt going to charge me for it if I buy the part since they have to put it together any way-
thanks in advance!!!

Might as well do all the plugs if they haven't been done recently.

Pull the motor to replace the studs? I would assume the access to the exhaust mainifolds are the sane as my F250. Mine were done thru the wheel wells. All they had to do was remove the wheel. Couple hours per side.

Might want to talk to them about doing it that way.

I know they were talking about trying to go through the wheel wells- but thought it was going to be tight- if they couldnt get at it that way- they were thinking that it would be easier to pull the motor in one piece, instead of trying to pull the head and dismantling the motor-

I don't know, pull the y-pipe from the exhaust manifolds, disconnect the accessories, unplug the wiring harness, disconnect from the tranny, and whatever else (radiator) ?

Might be a wash either way...

But things to check would be rear-main seal, definitely.

For the cost of parts I would definitely change the pan and valve cover gaskets while the engine is out.

You might ask about the cam drive chain, I'm not sure how long they last, but spark plugs for sure, unless already done.
