Still clunking

My 03 F250 5.4 still has a clunk and squeek in the right front. The truck has 29,000 and ball joints were done and both front hubs. After searching forums the common issues left are SB links, shocks and heat shields. This noise is only heard over bumps. Any other ideas?

Sway bar bushings? I put new urathane bushings in mine and it stopped a few of the clunks that I was having... Just a thought.

From what I read you can just buy a whole urethane bushing set that contains the sway bar bushings and the link bushings instead of replacing the whole sway bar and links. Your squeak could also be coming from your springs. The leafs have teflon pads between them that can wear out and cause a squeak.

You can buy replacement links for the sway bar and swap them out. It is a 20 minute job tops. You could rebuild the ones you have with a better bushing but you will need a 20 ton press to do that. I replaced my links and I still had a clunk but the squeak was gone?????? So I replace the sway bar bushings themselves.....not the ones in the link ends but the ones in the support brackets. No more clunk.

Only 2 miles to work???
Wow!
You'd better go the long way once in awhile to let the thing heat up and dry the condensation out of the pipes.

I agree, replace the sway bar bushings.

You can always just remove the sway bar and take it for a ride and see if it still clunks. Or, get someone else to rock the truck side to side, by pushing up on the top of the door, with the window open, while laying under there. I did this and it was EASY to see the sway bar moving around bigtime. Like many others, this was the fix for me.

Here's some info I put together...

2004 F250 Sway Bar Bushing Replacement

Good luck!

I just took my sway bar off and took it for a ride. Clunk was gone. So I just took the end links to a garage that has a press. The charged me $20.00 to press out the bushings. Much cheaper than new links. The new energy suspensions bushings just slide right in with the grease they supply with there bushings. Clunk free since last spring. My teflon pads are wore out though. It does have a squeak.

If you mark the links before you take them off it go alot faster. I didn't and I had to look at another superduty to make sure I didn't have them upside down.

CLUNK IS GONE! The right side bushings were shot. 20 ton press made this job alot easier.
