[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Jun-02 AT 08:22 PM (EST)]i have a 78 f-150 4x4 with 5 inches of body lift. my question is will 38.5 groung hawgs fit on my truck with out doing a suspension lift?.. my rims are 10x15"s...PAUL....
...one other thing, how will my truck work with these tires?.. it has a 302 put.030 over, 4spd tranny with a 205 case...i don"t need her to be real fast, just strong...the gear ratio i belive is 3:50...open..
5" of body lift!!!! I don't think that's such a great idea. I really don't know if they'll fit. It would be close. W/ some fender trimming they'd fit easy. As far as driving, expect it to be sluggish at best. 38" tires, stock gears (prob. 3.5:1) and a smallblock are not a good combination. I had 35's on my truck w/ 3.50 gears and a big block 390 and it was just OK. That engine torqued like a big rig when I took off w/ that combo. Now I have 36's and 4.10's and it feels really good. For 38's I'd say 4.10 is the min. amount of gear needed, especially w/ a small block.
5" BODY LIFT GOOD GOD That sounds kinda like DANGEROUS To fit the 38.5's you will probably need to do a suspension lift for them to fit properly. As far as your gear ratio goes you will need to change it to possibly a 4:10 or 4:56 to run okay. I would like to see a pic of the 5" body lift
